Tuesday Ten... Things I loved about last weekend :)

Well for the sake of Tuesday Ten, I know I should narrow this down a bit, but there was just too much to love about last weekend, so here are a few of my favorite things about Stagecoach 2010 :)

Thursday Mike and I drove to Palm Springs. The clouds were amazing and the drive went quickly. We stopped and visited with Mike's cousin, Sean and his fiance for a bit before heading over to the condo to meet my parents.

Friday morning we woke up early (boo to being an adult and no longer sleeping in, ever!), had coffee and enjoyed the beautiful views from the condo. That afternoon we drove into Old Town Palm Springs and had lunch and walked around a bit. The weather was so perfect! We accidentally locked ourselves out of the condo, thankfully the neighbors had an extra key and were able to let us back in! Mike, Art and I spent the next few hours laying by the pool, swimming and playing shuffle board. That evening Sean came over for happy hour before we met Coryn for dinner at The Slice. Delicious food and great company :)

Saturday we woke up, got ready and headed to Stagecoach. There was a bit of traffic, but we made it. We tailgated a bit before heading into the concert to meet up with Lauren and Jesse. We all sat together and enjoyed the concert and the people watching (see photos below). Sugarland and Phil Vassar were my favorite :)

Sunday was amazing as well! We walked over and watched Firefall perform on one of the smaller stages. I was a singing and dancing fool! Brooks N Dunn were hands down the best performers of the day! As usual, Toby Keith put on a great show as well. We headed out just a bit early to avoid being stuck in traffic for hours, like we were the night before. Mike and I got some sleep before heading back to Phoenix at 3:30am. Yikes!!!

Thankful Thursdays

I received my acceptance letter from San Diego State last night!!! And for that I am sooo very thankful!

While I am sure that Mike and My mom were about ready to kill me because I was such an emotional wreck, I am thankful now that I worked as hard as I did on my Grad School applications. I'm also thankful that I was a bit of a nerd during undergrad days at ASU, as my GPA definitely helped me get into Grad School, considering my less than stellar GMAT scores.

I am not sure where I will go just yet, but I am thankful that I have options.

Crescent City

This past weekend, Mike and I made the long trip to Crescent City for his Grandpa's 85th birthday party. Here is bit of insight and a few pictures that Mike snapped (I obviously forgot my camera) during our whirlwind weekend:

Friday morning our flight left at 6am, which means we left the house at 4:30am. Brutal. Thankfully our flight was nearly empty and I was able to sneak in a napper on the plane.

We rented a car and set off for the 7 hour drive north to Crescent City. The drive was beautiful, full of Redwoods and so much greenery. We could see the ocean for much of the last hour of the drive.

our silly rental car, so worth it!

We went straight to Mike's grandpa's house when we finally arrived and I met a lot of Mike's wonderful family. We had a delicious dinner before heading back to the hotel. Mike and I took his niece swimming and then hung out with a few of his cousins before we hit the hay after our long travel day.

Saturday we woke up early and had breakfast with Mike's mom, his brother and his wife, as well as their precious baby boy and one of Mike's nieces. Then we got ready and headed over to the birthday party. There ended up being 50+ people in attendance. What a sweet day. It was truly amazing to think that everyone there had traveled from all over the place to share in this special occasion. We had lunch and then celebrated with wayyy too much cake. I obviously got teary eyed as the entire family sang "Happy Birthday." Mike's uncle made a nice toast and we spent much of the afternoon meeting, visiting and mingling with the family. It's nice to finally put a face with the names that I've heard so much about.

Later in the afternoon, Mike, Sean, Ian, AJ and I took a little trip to the beach. Again, it was cool to see the places that Mike had told me about visiting as a child.

it was reallllllly windy

We headed back to his Grandpa's for dinner. I had the chance to talk to one of Mike's cousins who works in the building that I will be attending class in while at UW! Small, small world. Mike's grandpa seems to be doing well and seemed to truly enjoy the company of 4 generations of his beautiful family. After a few cups of coffee, we said our goodbyes and headed back to the hotel.

Sunday we made the long drive back to Santa Rosa. We made a few pit stops, including one so that we could take pictures with Paul Bunyan and Blue. We had lunch and hung out with his mom and niece for a while before we headed to the airport. My mom met us in Oakland and took us out for a drink before we got on our plane back to Phoenix. It was so nice to see her, as always.

Weekends like this always make it so hard to come back to Phoenix. While I love it here, I do miss spending time with our families. I guess our time apart makes our time together that much sweeter.

How was your weekend?

I am thankful for KITTENS!

Kaycee has 6 baby kittys that she is caring for and trying to find homes for! If anyone wants one of these little nuggets, please let me know!

In the mean time, I am still trying to talk Mike into getting one :) Wish me luck!
