Monday always comes too soon.

As if Mondays aren't bad enough as it is; today is my first day of work without my partner-in-crime and I heard that stupid Carrie Underwood song (temporary home), twice, during my traffic infested 45+ minute drive to work this morning. I was thinking that this day was going to be a real suck, until my very best friend gave me the BEST NEWS EVER! She is coming to visit next weekend! I am just so so excited! A little "stay-cation" complete with shopping, cocktails and lots of pool time. I can't even wait!!!

Love her.

Tuesday 10... Resolutions

I didn't exactly make a New Years Resolution, but I figure it's really never too late and blogging about them, and assuming that you're reading about them, helps keep me accountable. So here you have it, My top ten things I need to be better about:

1. Finish and submit the remainder of my grad school applications. I've gotten a bit lazy since receiving my first acceptance letter and have put in zero time or effort to finishing the rest of them. I'd really like to have some options, and unfinished applications aren't exactly helping my cause.
2. Keep up my tan. I know it's terrible for my skin, but I feel better when I'm tan and I may as well take full advantage of my last summer in Phoenix.
3. Put more money in savings. Actually, put as much money in savings as possible. I'm starting to stress about not having a job, and in turn not having an income when I go back to school. The more I save now the better off I'll be when attempting to live solely off student loans. Yikes!!
4. Start running again. Physically and mentally beneficial.
5. Get my car washed more often. It's definitely hard to keep a black car clean in the desert, but she sure looks good when she's just had a bath.
6. Send more mail. A simple gesture to remind people just how much I love them and anyways, who doesn't love getting mail?!
7. Blow dry and straighten my hair every time I shower (or at least during the week) If you've seen my crazy wavy/curly/straight hair, you know what I mean.
8. Put down my Crackberry. It's not going to kill me to get to those emails/ phone calls/ text messages tomorrow and enjoy myself today.
9. Eat out less. It cheaper and healthier to eat at home.
10. Be better about keeping in touch with friends from home. Because you can't expect something from others if you don't do so yourself.

Happy, Happy Birthday Lovelies

A very happy (and a bit late) Birthday wish to my beautiful sisters, who celebrated their 21st and 25th birthdays this past Friday.

Love you both ♥

Bring it on, Monday!

Well, I guess the whole point of this blog is to keep those of your who are interested, updated on my fabulous life, so here a few highlights from this past weekend in Santa Rosa/Napa/Sacramento:

-After a hectic airport pick up (my cell phone was d.e.a.d. and due to a GPS malfunction, Mike got lost in ghetto Oakland while trying to make his way to the airport to get me) I was finally reunited with CMJ. Always so happy to see him
-We ate dinner and chatted with Mike's mom, who shared her words of wisdom regarding trying to focus only on the positive aspects of any situation. Wise woman, she is!
-Friday morning Mike and I went for a little walk to grab some coffee before meeting up with my mom and Art for some wine tasting. Nothing beats that warm California sun (well except this warm Arizona sun, but that's another conversation entirely)
-Friday afternoon we visited, and thoroughly enjoyed both the scenery and the wines at Artesa and Domaine Carneros before making our way over to check into our lovely hotel, where we had a very mediocre dinner at the hotel before calling it a night

-Saturday we woke up to a lovely breakfast of mimosas, peeps and saltyyy cashews before showering and heading off for a few more tastings prior to the wedding
-I found my new favorite wine at our first stop of the day: Mumm. Cuvee M Red, a great sparkling RED wine. Between my mom, Art, Mike and I, I'm pretty sure we tasted every single sparkling wine they make. Yummm!

-We headed over to Peju (my very favorite winery) where we tasted another 5 wines and purchased a few of our favorites: Carnival and Provence.

-Next we headed over to V. Sattui for lunch, which I highly recommend! We sat outside and enjoyed the very best mix of (way too much) cheese, bread, meats, "adult ho hos" and wine. We made friends with the gentlemen next to us who proceeded to make Mike the most delicious looking sandwich, grrrrrrr, I can't wait for Lent to be over so I can eat normal foods again!

-We hurried back to Mike's mom's home, got dressed and headed to the wedding at Trentadue. The ceremony was beautiful and I am so happy for Portia and Richard! Here is to Happily Ever After!

-Sunday morning we had a very late and very large breakfast at Fox & Goose in downtown Sacramento. Apparently it's "where the locals eat," again, very mediocre. After breakfast we gave Mike and Art a tour of Sacramento to include Land Park, The Fab 40's and of course, the Fair Oaks Chickens.

-We spent the afternoon with my Birthday Girl Sister and my sweet sweet nephew. Alex is getting "sooo big" and is just the cutest and most well-behaved baby. I'm so proud of my sister :)

After our visit with my sister and Art's cousin Bill, my mom drove Mike and I to the airport where we said our (tearful on my part) goodbyes and hopped on our plane back to Phoenix. We had just enough time in the airport to see that the health-care bill passed, the only downside to our lovely weekend, but hey, I guess you can't win em' all...

So after a wonderful weekend spent with my very favorite people, I am refreshed and ready to take on this week, so I say "Bring it on, Monday!"

Tuesday 10... Things I just adore about Hutch (aka my gypsy mother)

Well obviously, I could list about 8,964,327,583,247,529,475 reasons, but for the sake of "Tuesday 10" I'll highlight my very favorite things about my beautiful, wonderful, amazing mother :)

1. She and my dad are still best friends. They have a mutual love and respect for one another. I don't think I could have gotten much luckier!

2. She is super smart & super successful.

3. She loves to travel and we've been all sorts of great places!

4. Everyone always feels welcome at her home.

5. She is funny. "I'll be there fast, Im in a BMW"

6. She gave me my red hair.

7. She's appreciates a good glass of champagne and a great pair of shoes.

8. She goes above and beyond at Christmas, and any holiday for that matter.

9. She's a SUN DEVIL too and has always supported me and encouraged me to get the most out of my education.

10. She is the most kind and caring person I've ever met.

Tuesday 10... Things I am REALLY looking forward to.

(stolen from a miss erin bixby)

1. Going home (well, home to California, but more specifically to Mike's home) next weekend! My cousin Portia is getting married at a winery in Napa and we're making the trip home for the wedding. We will be seeing Mike's family (and hopefully his very cute little baby nephew), wine tasting with Artsky & Hutch (my very favorite people), and enjoying some California wine & sun. Yay!

2. Date night with Miss Kaycee Carol. We'll be doing a little celebrating :) Grad school & Dental school: HERE WE COME!

3. Stage Coach. Sun. Booze. Good Music. Done!

4. Getting my eyelash extensions. My mascara obsessed self cant even wait!!

5. Easter, because that means Lent is over and I can eat meat and drink Starbucks again!

6. All the fun trips I plan on taking before I go back to school. Visiting my dad in Maui, Florida for Lobster Fest & hopefully Cabo with the ladies.

7. Bay to Breakers. Kegs & Eggs at Klub Kitchen && most importantly Lindsey Lynn!!!

8. Being a student again. Being on a student's budget again, not so much.

9. Making it back to Sac at some point this summer. I could use a little David Berkley in my life.

10. Moving into and decorating a new place! I will miss living in Scottsdale and being so close to everything (mainly Loco Patron, Yogurt Land and Bronze Boutique) oh so much, but am definitely excited to have a place of my own!
