Tuesday Ten... Thoughts about my trip to Seattle

1. I love the idea of neighborhoods. It seems as though each neighborhood is fairly self-contained with restaurants, bars, shops, banks, ect. Each one has it's own charms, one of my favorite being the old brick buildings with wood floors, crown molding and big windows. So very charming.
2. I loved that the city is so walkable. There were people everywhere; running, rollerblading, walking dogs, riding bikes. The rain didn't even seem to phase them. We'll see how well I adjust ;)
3. Just about everyone we interacted with was awesome. Everyone is so friendly. Our waitress helped point out neighborhoods that we should check out and assured my parents that she would "watch over" me if I ended up in Eastlake.
4. The campus was b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. It is literally right on the water (you can see the water from my building) and the architecture was exquisite! Everything is so green and amazing.
5. True, the weather is pretty brutal. The rain terrifies me. But it was sunny for the last hour of our trip, and it was beautiful. You can bet that I will be taking full advantage of those 58 days of sunshine.
6. We had some awesome meals while we were in town. There is an abundance of great restaurants, I can't even wait to try them! I highly recommend 14 Carrots in Eastlake for breakfast and Wild Ginger downtown for dinner.
7. My job definitely has its perks! We got hooked up with a beautiful 2 bedrooms suite complete with a living room, kitchen, dining area and 3 bathrooms! My awesome sales contact at the hotel also had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in the room with a sweet hand written card.
8. It seemed like everywhere we looked there were fresh flower stands, with HUGE bouquets for $10. Peonies, Lillies, Roses, Orchids, you name it. At that price, you can bet that I will be having fresh flowers quite often!
9. Art's friend Tom and his fiance Angela were awesome! They gave us "the locals tour" of Seattle, pointing out great views, beautiful buildings, restaurants to try, ect. It is nice to have someone who knows what they are doing and where they are going after a day of self guided tours. Ha.
10. While I sometimes feel as though going to grad school is my version of a quarter life crisis, I am so excited. I am so unbelievably lucky to have such awesome and supportive parents, who rearranged their Memorial Day weekend to come to Seattle with me.
